What happens at my STI test appointment in Durban?
Getting tested for sexually transmitted diseases with Better2Know is quick and simple.
Arrive at your chosen clinic at the scheduled time. After you do, a member of our clinic staff will greet you and send you to a private consultation room.
You will then meet a trained medical professional who will take your test samples. They will take your blood sample and provide you with tools to self-collect a swab or urine sample if needed. This process should take around 10-15 minutes.
After your appointment is over, you can carry on with your day. Your test samples will be processed at our laboratory, and your test results will be posted to your Patient Area when they are ready.

How do you get Hepatitis B?
Most people get Hepatitis B through unprotected sexual activity, like through vaginal, oral, and anal sex.

How do you know if you have an STD?
There is no way to know if you have a sexually transmitted disease without getting tested.
Some people think symptoms are a reliable indicator of an infection, but this is not the case. Sexually transmitted infections can share symptoms with other infections, making it more likely that sexually active women and men will dismiss their symptoms, not get treated, and spread the infection to other people.
Also, many STIs do not cause symptoms. You can have a sexually transmitted infection for months or years and not know it.
