That’s why we offer a digital platform where you can stay in the loop throughout the testing process.

Don't leave your sexual health to chance

Are you worried about STIs? Book an appointment at a sexual health clinic near you.

What is your Patient Area?

When you get tested with Better2Know, you get access to your very own Patient Area. The Patient Area is an encrypted section of our website, accessible only to you, with the highest levels of security.

In your Patient Area, you can stay informed about every step of the testing process, from getting directions to your chosen sexual health clinic to checking the status of your test results. You can also order new tests and notify your sexual partners of your status.

Logging in

When you have completed the booking process, whether online or over the phone, we will send you an SMS message or email with all the login details for your Patient Area. This will include:

  • A link to the login page
  • A PIN number
  • A strong password

Click the link in your notification message to access the login page, and then enter the login details provided.

You will also receive other messages confirming your appointment details and providing you with a copy of our Fair Processing Notice. (This will explain how and why we process your data. We encourage all our patients to read this carefully so they are fully aware of our processes.)

How you can use your Patient Area

Your Patient Area is your main point of contact for information on your appointments and test results. Here are all the things you can do in your Patient Area.

Confirm your appointment details

The Patient Area will contain all details about your appointment, including the clinic name, clinic address, the date of your appointment, and all the tests or screens you have ordered.

You can get this information in your Patient Area if you lose your confirmation email or SMS message.

Get directions to your sexual health clinic

Some clinics can be hard to find on a street level. Your journey to your chosen sexual health clinic may also be complicated.

That’s why we offer directions to your clinic, which you can access in your Patient Area.

In the “Appointment Details” table, click the “Map & Directions” button. This will take you to another page to get detailed directions from your chosen location to your clinic and comprehensive route instructions.

You can use this page on your phone or print it out to take the directions with you on your journey.

See what infections you are being tested for

Each test and screen Better2Know offers tests for one or more infections. Each individual infection will be displayed on the Home page of your Patient Area.

The above table represents someone who is getting a Full Screen, which tests for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Hepatitis B, HIV, Mycoplasma, Syphilis, and Ureaplasma.

The results for each test will appear in the “Results” column.

“Pending” means the test results for this infection have not yet been completed.

If your test results return positive, the cell will display “Positive” next to the infection name. If the test is negative, it will display “Negative”.

All test results are uploaded to your Patient Area when they are ready. You have the option of receiving a notification, such as an SMS or email, when the test results are ready.

Some people prefer not to receive notification messages to protect their privacy. If you do not want to receive a notification, you can mention this to our Patient Services team during the booking process.

Notify your sexual partners

If you test positive for an STI, it’s important not to panic.

Many people are diagnosed with STIs every day, and most can be fully cured with medication. If you test positive, we will connect you with a Better2Know doctor who will help you access the necessary medication and care.

People who test positive for an STI should do everything they can to stop the spread. Notifying sexual partners is an important step in this process. It allows those people to cease any sexual activity and get tested themselves.

However, notifying sexual partners of an STI can be problematic for some people. That’s why we offer a Partner Notification system that allows you to notify sexual partners of your status anonymously. Doing this will help protect your identity and privacy during this sensitive time.

Order more tests and secure discounts

If you’re sexually active, it’s important to get tested regularly, even if you are using condoms and other methods of contraception.

Better2Know recommends that you get tested at least once every three to six months if you are sexually active and not in a committed monogamous relationship.

In your Patient Area, you can order more tests or screens by clicking the “Order More Tests” button at the bottom of the Home page.

When ordering new tests, you can use the PIN number at the top of your Home page to secure a 10% discount on your next test. Quote this PIN number during the next booking process.

Final thoughts

We want to make the STI testing process quick and convenient for all our patients. Getting tested should be a process free of hassle and stigma.
