Clinics in Sydney
Many people who have an STI do not have any symptoms, especially in the first few weeks and months of a new infection. They can pass on an infection to a new partner without knowing they had an STI. So even if your last partner looked and felt fine, they might have had an STI. Getting tested is the only way to know if you have an STI. Regular testing helps to prevent the spread of STIs and any infection doing long-term damage to your body.

How does STI testing in Sydney work?
At your appointment in Sydney, your samples will be taken by a discreet qualified clinician or phlebotomist (someone who can take a blood sample). They will collect the samples needed for your choice of tests. Your samples will be sent for analysis at our fully certified, Australian laboratory. Results should be ready within five working days of your sample’s arrival at the laboratory, though tests for infections such as HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B, as well as many of the STI screens we offer, will return your results even sooner.
How do I get my STI Test results?
Results are reported to your secure patient login area of our website using the lastest technology. You can access your results at any time. A member of Better2Know’s sexual health advisory team will also contact you once all your results are ready unless you would prefer to contact us yourself.
What happens if I have an STI?
If any of your tests are positive, Better2Know will arrange for you to speak with a Sydney-based doctor who will get you a prescription for any medications you need or provide you with a referral to an appropriate specialist service.
STI and an STD: What is the difference?
An STI is a Sexually Transmitted Infection, and STD is a Sexually Transmitted Disease. Given the choice between an infection and a disease (after neither), most people choose an infection. This better describes how what we at Better2Know test you for and how it is treated. So STI is the more contemporary term used in clinics.

How It Works
HIV Testing in Sydney
HIV testing is one of our most popular tests in Sydney. You are not alone in being worried about your HIV status. Our HIV test looks for the p-24 antigen and the HIV 1 and HIV antibodies. The p-24 antigen can be reliably detected (with 99.8% accuracy) at 28 days following the potential infection. HIV is no longer life-threatening if it is diagnosed and treated early.
