Product Information

What is a Comprehensive Diabetes test?

Our comprehensive diabetes test measures blood sugar levels to identify whether you may have damaged kidneys or are at risk of diabetes. This is an advanced test which also includes a microalbumin test, used to detect very small levels of albumin (a blood protein) in urine. Albumin is one of the first proteins to leak when your kidneys become damaged.

You may wish to consider our comprehensive diabetes test If you are concerned about your kidney health and diabetes risk. The additional test for microalbumin can indicate signs of kidney damage in those who are at risk of developing kidney disease, such as people with diabetes or high blood pressure.

How can diabetes be tested?

Our comprehensive diabetes test will require you to provide a urine and blood sample. Once the clinician has collected your samples, they will be sent to our fully accredited country laboratory for fast and accurate analysis.

What tests will be run on my sample?

Our test will measure the following:

  • Blood glucose. This test measures blood sugar levels
  • HbA1c. To assess how controlled your blood glucose levels have been over the last 3 months
  • Microalbumin test. This test detects levels of albumin which can indicate kidney damage

How will I receive my test results?

Within two working days of your sample's arrival at our accredited laboratory, your results will be available to view in your secure patient area on our website. You can track the progress of your results at any time through the website, using your login. A member of our Patient Services team will contact you to let you know when all your results are ready.

What should I do if my test reveals I have raised blood glucose levels?

If your test results show that you have raised blood glucose levels and are at the stage described as pre-diabetic, you should see a doctor immediately. Medication can be prescribed to you, and further testing may be recommended to ensure the success of treatment. If you make certain lifestyle changes, it is possible to lower blood sugar levels. If your tests confirm that you may have diabetes, it is imperative that you seek further medical attention. Better2Know will be happy to arrange a further doctors consultation for you.
