An iron profile test is a blood test that measures the levels of Iron, Ferritin and Transferrin Saturation (TS) in your blood. This test can help diagnose anaemia, iron overload, and liver disease. Too much Iron or too little Iron are both bad for your health so monitoring your Iron levels is always a great idea.
What does this test measure?
- Iron is the amount of dissolved Iron in your blood
- Ferritin is the amount of Iron that is stored in your body
- Total iron-binding capacity (TIBC) is a measure of how well your body transports iron
- Transferrin saturation is the ratio of iron to Total Iron Binding Capacity

At your appointment, your clinician will collect a small blood sample. They will send it to our laboratory for fast and accurate analysis.
How will I receive my test results?
Your test results will be uploaded to your secure online Patient Area as soon as they become available. You can check whenever you like. We will send you an email or SMS when your results are ready.
What if my Iron levels are outside the normal range?
If you your iron levels are abnormal, we will make an appointment for you with one of our doctors. Your Better2Know doctor will be able to help you to get the treatment you need for your condition.
